WSG has been managing the rail movements of as much as 900,000 tons of waste per year out of both its East Coast and West Coast operations. Since 1991 on the West Coast and since 1996 in the middle Atlantic and New England states, the firm has had a long-term contractual relationship with Allied Waste Industries to develop and project manage rail and other complex solid waste transportation projects to reduce the overall cost to our clients of utilizing distant landfills.
In 2001, WSG developed and put into operation a patented container tipper system, which allows solid waste, construction/demolition debris, and contaminated soils to be tipped directly from trucks into rail cars without touching the ground. This state-of-the-art tipper is both more efficient and more environmentally friendly than traditional transload techniques, and has been developed, patented and put into operation exclusively by WSG. It has improved efficiencies and provided cost-savings to the waste-by-rail industry throughout the U.S.
